1000 EYES2021

Asma is an art student. Asma is an activist. Asma is a Kurd. Asma, as many other young people, grew up "protected" in Europe but dreams of joining the Kurdish resistance movement. She tells everyone she is leaving for Paris to make a film but never returns. After her disappearance, family, friends and acquaintances watch her videos and collect the memories and images that have been left behind. Where is Asma? Did she join the Kurdish resistance movement? Was she taken hostage by the Islamic State? Did she get into the porn industry? What drives young people to radically cut short their lives to start living a new reality? What do the images and propaganda created around the glorification of resistance and emancipation tell us about the desire for an escape, a new beginning, a utopia?
1000 EYES is the portrait of a woman in her absence, appearing only through vague and distorted images. The piece is woven as the sociogram of a community of insomniac and disconsolate beings who try to understand a war reconstructed daily through their images.
