Juan Miranda’s work sits at the intersection between theatre, visual arts, and performance. He investigates the ephemeral body of emotions, images, and flesh, and the tension created between action, presence, and space.

“My research is triggered by the pathos that lies behind images and how this can be embraced from the scene. What makes an image present? Through my work I look for an excessive and passionate performativity, one that leads the gesture to exhaustion.”

Born 1985. Argentinean-Spanish director and performer. He graduated with distinction in theatre directing from the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona. At the Amsterdam University of the Arts, he graduated with a Master's degree in DAS Theatre in 2021 with the support of “La Caixa” Foundation Fellowship.
. He is a Professor in the Performing Arts programme at the University of Girona. His physically intense productions have been invited to numerous international festivals. In 2019, he staged Una niña es una cosa a medio formar by Eimear McBride at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Rufino Tamayo in Mexico City. In 2021 he was in the final of the Prix Théâtre 13 / jeunes metteur-se-s en scène with the theatre company El Vaïvén Théâtre with the play 1000 Eyes by Mazlum Nergiz. In 2022 Juan Miranda was invited by the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya and the Royal Flemish Theatre (KVS) in Brussels to participate in the exchange programme "New Catalan Dramaturgy". At the Schauspiel Hannover Germany, Juan Miranda was responsible for the world premiere of Das Gift (Distancia de rescate) by Samanta Schweblin in the season 2022/23.

Su práctica se sitúa en la intersección entre el teatro, las artes visuales y la performance. Se centra en el cuerpo efímero de las emociones y explora la escena como un campo de tensiones entre la acción, la presencia y el espacio.

"Mi investigación busca en el pathos que se esconde detrás de las imágenes y en cómo puede ser abarcado desde la escena. ¿Qué hace que una imagen esté presente? Mi trabajo artístico busca generalmente una performatividad excesiva y apasionada, llevando los gestos hasta el agotamiento".

Nacido en 1985. Director e intérprete argentino-español. Se graduó con distinción en dirección teatral en el Institut del Teatre de Barcelona. En 2021, en la Universidad de las Artes de Ámsterdam, se graduó como Master en DAS Theatre con una beca de Fundación "La Caixa"

. Es profesor en el programa de Artes Escénicas de la Universidad de Girona. Sus producciones físicamente intensas han sido invitadas a numerosos festivales internacionales. En 2021 estuvo en la final del Prix Théâtre 13 / jeunes metteur-se-s en scène con la compañía de teatro El Vaïvén Théâtre con la obra 1000 Eyes de Mazlum Nergiz.
