Embracing both physical and intellectual dimensions, this piece explores the quest for freedom as a nexus of union between humanism, in the form of the Greek and Roman classics and texts from the Golden Age, and the world of the skaters who fill the streets of Barcelona today.

Like philosophers from other periods, they want to feel free. Thought, philosophy, and meditation on the one hand and training, force, and movement on the other are concepts that the characters exchange with one another during the play, set in a theatre that is not really a theatre because of its deliberate lack of a proper stage leads us to think more of those streets where these skaters roam.

Esqueiters es la aproximación fonética a la palabra skaters y nos remite a los títulos de algunas obras clásicas: Los Persas, Los Suplicantes, Las Troyanas … Los Esqueiters. Todas ellas con los rasgos característicos de la tragedia  griega: la presentación de un conflicto universal y la aceptación de este a  través de una catarsis.

Esta tragedia nace de la voluntad de alcanzar un estado casi imposible: ser o sentirnos libres. Todo comienza con el encuentro de dos grupos que persiguen este objetivo común. Unos skaters, perpetuos viajantes que redefinen el entorno urbano y confían en la fuerza del movimiento para liberarse, y unos pensadores del Renacimiento, mentes ilustradas que confían en la fuerza de las ideas para conquistar la libertad.

La pieza, como lo ha sido el proceso, es un ejercicio de intercambio, de aproximación entre lo instintivo y lo racional, lo efímero y lo eterno, lo contemporáneo y lo clásico.
