‘You look at me and think you know who I am and what I think, but you know nothing. What do you see in me when you see me? One image or none at all? One story or many?’

Young people from Hanover and the region use strategies of visual self-dramatisation to reflect on a world in which the power of origin and class hardly allows them to break out. A world in which posing is more important than being. What do these images show? And what do they not? What kind of lived or imagined life do they tell of? Between identity stress and the perfect look, the project The Sense of Belonging conducts an excessive search for the images we make of ourselves. In the process, it compiles a panorama that tells of the desire to belong.

The project The Sense of Belonging is funded by ‘Zur Bühne’, the support programme of the German Stage Association within the framework of "Kultur macht stark. Alliances for Education.

"Me miras y crees que sabes quién soy y lo que pienso, pero no sabes nada. ¿Qué ves en mí cuando me ves? ¿Una imagen o ninguna? ¿Una historia o muchas?".

Los jóvenes de Hannover y de la región utilizan estrategias de autorrepresentación visual para reflexionar sobre un mundo en el que el peso de su origen y de su clase apenas les permite abrirse paso. Un mundo en el que posar es más importante que ser. ¿Qué muestran estas imágenes? ¿Y qué no muestran? ¿Qué tipo de vida vivida o imaginada relatan? Entre el estrés identitario y la mirada perfecta, el proyecto The Sense of Belonging realiza una búsqueda exhaustiva de las imágenes que fabricamos de nosotros mismos. Recoge un panorama que habla del deseo de pertenencia en el proceso.
